The MDTA is collaborating with the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and local service providers in Anne Arundel and Queen Anne’s counties to identify transit considerations for the Tier 2 Study and to develop and evaluate potential transit and bicycle/pedestrian elements, such as facility connections, within the Tier 2 Study Area.
Transit and operational alternatives, including ferry service, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), rail transit and Transportation Systems Management/Travel Demand Management (TSM/TDM) were evaluated as part of the Tier 1 NEPA Study. During the Tier 1 Study these options were eliminated from consideration as stand-alone alternatives. However, they are being considered during the Tier 2 Study within Corridor 7 in combination with other build alternatives. There are no existing ferries or freight or passenger rail routes across the Bay.
Virtual Transit and Bicycle and Pedestrian Listening Meeting
The MDTA held a Virtual Transit and Bicycle and Pedestrian Listening Meeting on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, to provide the public an opportunity to learn about existing transit and mobility elements in the Tier 2 Study area. During this meeting the MDTA also received comments on and suggestions for potential transit and mobility elements to be considered as part of the Tier 2 Study. The comment period ended on July 11, 2023.
